IVF treatment – long treatment

1

Preliminary consultation

Here we take good time to talk about the overall examination and the optimal treatment for you.
2

Registration for treatment

On the first cycle day, you call us to schedule an appointment for commencement of treatment and an ultrasound scan.
3

First visit with ultrasound

On cycle day 21, you are scanned and start a down-regulation so that we can control your ovulation.
4

Second visit with ultrasound

After 14 days of down-regulation, you are scanned. If everything is OK, you will start FSH hormone stimulation.
5

Third visit with ultrasound

Seven days later you will be scanned again to assess the number and size of your follicles (egg sacs).
6

Ovulation syringe

Once the egg sacs are ready, an ovulation syringe is administered which completes the maturation of the eggs.
7

Egg retrieval

The doctor draws the follicular fluid with the egg sacs from your ovaries with a fine needle and guided by ultrasounds.
8

Fertilisation of the eggs

After egg retrieval, the eggs are fertilised with sperm cells. The fertilised eggs are cultivated for up to five days.
9

Egg transfer

The most suitable eggs are transferred to the uterus. Only one egg is normally transferred.
10

Pregnancy test

Around 16 days after the egg retrieval, you must have a pregnancy blood test done.
11

Pregnancy scan

If the pregnancy test is positive, we perform an ultrasound scan approximately three weeks later.
